Mahindra Alternators: Find Affordable Mahindra Parts Now
Posted by Reubicon Tractor Parts on 6th Mar 2023
A tractor alternator is an electrical generator that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy, and your Mahindra alternator is designed to recharge the battery while your tractor is running and to provide power for the tractor’s electrical system.
While a Mahindra tractor alternator and the alternator’s belt are crucial components of your tractor engine, these parts do break down eventually and need replacement. Purchasing the parts directly from a Mahindra dealer can be costly, but Reubicon Tractor Parts can provide you with quality replacement parts for far less than manufacturer prices.
Our high-quality aftermarket Mahindra alternators work seamlessly in your Mahindra tractor. Many people mistakenly believe that purchasing aftermarket Mahindra parts will void your warranty, but this is not the case.
In the United States, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits manufacturers, such as Mahindra, from voiding warranties simply because a consumer chooses to purchase an aftermarket part from another supplier rather than the original manufacturer.
Still, when purchasing non-OEM parts, it’s always crucial to purchase from a trusted source. At Reubicon, we have more than 20 years of experience in the tractor part business and we have an excellent sourcing base, which allows us to provide our customers with the best products at the lowest possible prices.

When Should You Replace Your Mahindra Alternator?
We recommend that you inspect your Mahindra alternator belt frequently for signs of wear and tear, and replace the belt as needed. Alternators should last for many years, but if you notice any of the following signs, it might be time to replace the alternator.
Dimming & Flickering Headlights – This can be a sign of a failing battery or a failing alternator.
Warning Lights – Most Mahindra tractors have a warning light that looks like a battery. When this light comes on, you either have a battery issue or an alternator issue.
Electrical Issues– If you notice that the power windows or perhaps the radio isn’t working properly, this could be a sign of a faulty alternator.
Weak Battery – Because the alternator charges the battery, battery problems can be a sign of an alternator issue, particularly if your battery is fairly new. If the battery is dead and cannot be recharged, this could be a bad battery or a bad alternator, so it’s important to test the alternator if the battery has died.
Odd Smells – A burning smell is never a good sign, and this can be due to the alternator overheating and failing
Starting & Stalling Issues – If you notice that the tractor has difficulty starting, this could be a starter issue or an alternator issue. However, if you notice starting issues and stalling problems, the alternator is likely the culprit.
Belt Issues: While belts do wear out, typically more quickly than the alternator, if you have a newer belt that is slipping or worn or squealing, these could signal a problem with the alternator.
How To Check The Alternator
The first step to take is to disconnect the negative cable from the battery to prevent electrical shorts. Then you will need to locate the alternator, and if you aren’t quite sure where it’s located, simply check your Mahindra user manual. You will need to use a multimeter to assess the alternator, but we recommend that you first check the alternator for any signs of loose wiring or general damage.
Once you are assured that loose wires or damage aren’t the issues, you can connect the multimeter to the alternator’s output terminal and connect the negative lead to a ground point on your tractor. Then, start the engine and check the multimeter. Typically it should read between about 13.5 to 14.5 volts.
