Affordable Mahindra Tractor Power Steering Parts

Your tractor’s steering system is more than just a wheel that guides the machine. This is a complex assembly of parts that work in harmony to provide precise control. Of course, these parts aren’t always so “harmonious,” and if you need Mahindra tractor power steering parts or front-end parts, we have everything you need at Reubicon Tractor Parts.

7 Signs Of Power Steering Issues

Here are some signs that might indicate your tractor's power steering is not working correctly. Addressing these issues promptly and replacing Mahindra tractor steering parts can help prevent further damage to your tractor's steering system.

1. Difficulty Turning the Steering Wheel

If the steering wheel feels heavy or takes extra effort to turn, it may signal a power steering problem. Additionally, if the wheel doesn’t move smoothly or feels jerky, this could mean the power steering system is malfunctioning.

2. Unusual Noises When Steering

Grinding, whining, or squealing noises when you turn the wheel may point to low power steering fluid or issues with the power steering pump.

3. Slow Response From The Steering Wheel

A delay or sluggishness in steering response may indicate a lack of power assistance.

4. Steering Fluid Leaks & Visible Damage

A puddle of power steering fluid under the tractor or low fluid levels in the reservoir is a clear sign that something in the system is leaking or broken. Inspecting the system for broken, worn, or disconnected components can reveal physical damage to the power steering mechanism.

5. Vibration or Shaking When Turning

If the steering wheel shakes or vibrates when you turn, this could be a sign of a failing power steering pump or air in the steering fluid.

6. No Power Assist at All

If the power steering fails completely, you'll notice that the tractor is much harder to steer, especially at lower speeds.

7. Steering Wheel Locked or Unresponsive

A completely unresponsive or locked steering wheel may suggest a more severe issue with the power steering system, such as a failed pump or broken belt.

Tractors: A Blast From The Past

It’s hard to imagine a time when tractors weren’t available, let alone available without power steering. However, the first models with power steering were built by International Harvester back in 1957, so we’ve enjoyed decades of power steering and easier farmwork due to this innovation.

Of course, for thousands of years, horses and oxen were the main source of power for horses and, sometimes, manpower. In the late 1850s, Thomas Aveling invented the first steam-powered tractor, and the gasoline-powered tractor was developed by John Froelich in 1892.

Still, it wasn’t until 1904 that the first commercially successful tractors were produced. This was the Holt tractor, designed by Benjamin Holt in Stockton, California. Holt’s first models were nicknamed “caterpillars” because they used caterpillar tracts or continuous tracks to help the tractor move across uneven or soft terrain without getting stuck. Eventually, the nickname became the company name and Caterpillar, Inc. was born.

Just a few years later, in 1918, a man named John Deere bought the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company (producers of the Waterloo Boy tractor), changed the name and, in 1923, introduced the John Deere Model D tractor, which quickly became a popular option for farmers and made John Deere a leading force in farming equipment. While we do sell some John Deere parts, selling Mahindra parts is our main focus, so let’s take a quick look at the history of Mahindra.

The early models of Mahindra tractors were part of a joint venture between Mahindra and International Harvester, and the first model, the B-275, was based on an IH design and produced in 1963. Of course, as time passed, Mahindra’s production capabilities increased, and they began developing their own designs. Today, Mahindra is the largest tractor manufacturer in the world by volume, and we are proud to be a supplier of quality, affordable Mahindra tractor parts.
